Gas Prices
While I was in Mérida, my friend Vladimir drove me around in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. You'd think that people would drive smaller cars with gas/petrol prices these days, but not in Venezuela because here's a full tank for that SUV:

42.27 liters for Bs. (Bolivares) 4,100.
USD $1 is approx Bs. 2,150.
1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liters.

In Venezuela, gasoline costs approximately $0.17 per gallon! And I'm talking about ultra-premium, 95 octane, unleaded fuel.
Gasoline is subsidized in Venezuela, and they don't plan to change it because there's way too many politics involved. People drive everywhere, though, so they have to fill up the tank more often, sometimes twice a week. Once in a while, when we don't have anything to do and because most unmarried people live at their parents' homes, we go around driving to have a conversation and "hang out", just wasting the fuel away...

Aghh... Venezuela has just become my mecca. After watching my 14 gallon tank slowly creep toward the $50 mark this last month, it's inconceivable that gas could be so cheap. Surely a U.S. invasion will help solve that disparity.
Anyway, not sure when you're headed back, but I guess it should be soon. You better be able to make some time to party before you head out to the big PA. Oh, and if you can manage to sneak it by customs, feel free to bring me back 100 gallons of that ultra-premium sweetness.
